health nut
i like to think that i’m a relatively healthy eater. i watch what i eat and try to have lots of fruit and veggies on hand and stephen and i enjoy cooking a lot together. i was trying to find out what the best foods are for you (and maybe you already know) but i came across the list of “superfoods” on webMD. here they are:
- beans
- blueberries
- broccoli
- oats
- oranges
- pumpkin
- salmon
- soy
- spinach
- tea (green or black)
- tomatoes
- turkey
- walnuts
- yogurt
lucky for me i LOVE almost everything on this list. also i’ve been making frequent trips to the local farmer’s market and there is an abundance of berries up there right now and that makes it much easier. and while i’m on the subject, if you’re in the market for getting more fit, yahoo had a great article listing what the best “flat-belly” foods are, and it almost mirrors the superfoods:
- spinach
- yogurt
- tomatoes
- carrots
- blueberries
- black beans
- walnuts
- oats
the best thing about the yahoo list is that it also gives you substitutes in case you don’t have those exact foods handy. thought some of you would enjoy that!

i love margaritas, but i know how incredibly bad they are for you - especially if you’re trying to keep that slim figure! my friend karla sent this over today and it seems to be the perfect remedy:
On the RocksWhat you’ll need:
* 2 oz of clear Tequila (100% agave, Patron Silver)
* (count 1, 2 while you pour, no need for measuring)
* A splash of fresh lime juice
* A splash of Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple SecCombine all ingredients over a glass of ice
Garnish with a lime wedge and salt (or sugar) if you’d like.
Makes one serving
also, if you’re out on the town, just ask your bartender for patron silver on the rocks (or your tequila of choice), fresh lime juice and a splash of triple sec.
deelish!!
