now down to business…
i have not been keeping up very well with my dallas events since i’ve been out of town so much! but there are few things this holiday weekend that i just have to share:
today! is the manolo blahnik trunk show at neiman marcus northpark. now, i do not, for one second, believe that i could afford this…but you can bet your bottom dollar i’m going. (and yes, i read about it in the quick’s “not to do” list…) it ends at 9 pm.
after that you can run over to the granada to check out bob schneider! “goes well with the scabs, ryan adams, beck, and tod snider.” tickets are about $20 and the show starts at 8.
sunday is the 14th annual picnic in the park at the dallas arboretum. from their email:
“This family friendly event will start with a performance by The Dallas Wind Symphony starting at 7:00 p.m. featuring classic patriotic pieces, movie and rock favorites and a few great surprises. Following the concert, AFI DALLAS will present THE PRINCESS BRIDE at approximately 8:30 p.m. Drop by the AFI DALLAS booth to register to win two Premiere Passes to the 2009 Festival.
if film and flowers isn’t your thing, stop by the house of blues to enjoy the musical magic of “who’s bad?” the world’s number one michael jackson tribute band…i mean, who can resist??
other than that, college football starts tomorrow! and i’ll leave you with a hearty “geaux tigers!” and an obligitory “boomer sooner!”
have a safe weekend everyone. maybe i’ll see you around town!

AFI Dallas 2008 - Volunteer!
This weekend marked the beginning of the second annual AFI Dallas International Film Festival. The film festival runs from March 27 - April 6 and is showing over 200 films ranging from features to documentaries to foreign to shorts. It’s a great festival bringing culture through these films to the Dallas area.
That being said, I am volunteering for the festival this year and had my first “shifts” this weekend. It was really fun and I got to see a few familiar faces like Josh Brolin and Bill Paxton. There are so many awesome films showing, and if you’re in the area you should check one out! A full listing of the films and their schedules can be found here. Hope to see you at the theater!
