ryan adams book cover

so i guess it’s never too early to start my birthday and/or christmas list right?? ryan adams is releasing a book, “infinity blues.” i don’t know when it’s being released, where, or whatever but i want it, please. ryan writes about the book on his blog:

“here’s something - it’s selfish, but inter-cardinal related so……

i woke up today to a great email from my bosses at AKASHIC BOOKS……

INFINITY BLUES- (“domestic-release” working cover)….wow….i guess this dream is coming true…..my grandparents, who taught me to write, and type and dream, i am so proud of all your hard work today, even if this is a long long sad bookbut some funny too, just like those black and white movies in the heat of the eastern seaboard- rolling through the windows of our home…..i am so humbled and so PROUD to be an  AKASHIC BOOKS author……

man, this is just crazy, like when i saw the first test pressing of the first 7inch record i was on…..

i feel like i will be able to say i left a little of my heart here, for when i am gone, maybe there will be comfort or safety in there, for people i will never know, for our generations never passing……

i have to maybe go take a nap now. bye. xx”

say what you want, but i can’t wait to read it.  i love reading artists’ books, i think they tend to reveal things they never would otherwise.   if it’s half as well-written as his song lyrics, then it will be nothing short of amazing.

learning to love you more

March 27th, 2008

so alice sent this to me this morning and i just couldn’t resist.  this book, learning to love you more, by harrell fletcher and miranda july looks fun, crazy, and surprisingly heart-warming.

learning to love you more

if you visit the website, it gives you examples of the quirky assignments from the book - from “photograph a scar and write about it”

scar photo

Laurajean P’s scar from Somerville, Massachusetts

to my favorite, “recreate an object from someone’s past.”

guitar project

“Tam’s first guitar” by Catherine Forrester

they’re just fun artsy projects, and some very touching ones as well, like “visit a dying person.”  this is enough to inspire me to go get the book today.  more to come my progress of the book.
