my mosaic
i did a fun little thing where you type in the answer to 12 questions in a flickr search, pick a photo from the first page of each search, and create a mosaic out of them.
here are the rules:
a. Type your answer to each of the questions below into Flickr Search.
b. Using only the first page, pick an image.
c. Copy and paste each of the URLs for the images into mosaic maker.
here are the questions:
1.What is your first name?
2.What is your favorite food?
3.What high school did you go to?
4.What is your favorite color?
5.Who is your celebrity crush?
6.Favorite drink?
7.Dream vacation?
8.Favorite dessert?
9.What you want to be when you grow up?
10.What do you love most in life?
11.One Word to describe you.
12.Your flickr name.
here is my mosaic:

i was perusing some random blogs today when i came across this on pia jane bijerk’s blog, “enhance the everyday.” the project is called “my heart wanders: a collection of subtle hearts in special places.” it is a collective book project that involves people taking photos of heart shapes in random/unexpected places. it is open for anyone to enter and the images so far look beautiful…i can’t wait to see the result!

while perusing one of my faves, d*s, this entry from the guest blog section really caught my eye. i love their cute place and saw that the writer, jeana sohn, has her own blog. i love it. it’s so sweet, simple and pretty. i aspire to have my blog be something so intriguing that others are drawn to it as well. wish me luck with that.

Filed under blog, fun, random | Comments (3)what do you do with those corks??
for some reason i have been collecting wine bottle corks for years. i have bags and bags of them just taking up space in our loft. why? because i’m hoping some great project will just come to me in a burst of creativity. well, lucky for me, today is diy day on design*sponge and they’ve got the perfect project!! cork coasters and trivet set!
while this might not be the cure for all of those corks, it’s certainly a cute way to display some of them!!
read the whole post and “how to” here.
Filed under blog, diy, random | Comments (2)learning to love you more
so alice sent this to me this morning and i just couldn’t resist. this book, learning to love you more, by harrell fletcher and miranda july looks fun, crazy, and surprisingly heart-warming.
if you visit the website, it gives you examples of the quirky assignments from the book - from “photograph a scar and write about it”
Laurajean P’s scar from Somerville, Massachusetts
to my favorite, “recreate an object from someone’s past.”
“Tam’s first guitar” by Catherine Forrester
they’re just fun artsy projects, and some very touching ones as well, like “visit a dying person.” this is enough to inspire me to go get the book today. more to come my progress of the book.
Filed under blog, books, love | Comment (1)a little art
just wanted to share a couple of my favorite artists of “now” whom i’ve been fortunate enough to have seen their exhibitions:
christopher lee (Kid Robot Exhibition, San Francisco, June 2005)
antony micallef (Los Angeles, Courtesy of Lazarides Gallery, September 2007)
Really great stuff, though totally different styles. And, that Machine Gun Head sculpture? Ozzy Osborne bought it for a cool $750,000. Just in case you were wondering.
Christopher’s stuff is a little more fun and bright - I just love it. Stephen and I bought our first original art piece from his exhibition during our honeymoon in San Francisco (so I am a little biased).
Anyway, hope you enjoy!
